Last completed combat mission on 7th June1944 as "Patches II", was also part of the mission on 16th June 1944 but had to abort the mission and return to base early.
At this point the airframe was declared war weary. The aircraft was repainted in the now famous white / blue spots and used therefter as the Group assembly ship, and also for weather duties.
