Museum & Visitor Centre Open Day - Saturday 19th September

The latest Museum and Visitor centre open day was our busiest yet, with a stream of visitors from opening until closing time. This event linked in with the Heritage Open Day festival across England, with the Museum linking into the programme for the first time ever.

It was fantastic to be supported by a number of period military vehicle that looked fantastic on the Museum site, parked up next to the visitor centre. We also had some glorious period cars arrived, courtesy of the Kettering Classic Car Club whom we have worked with before. We really appreciate all the support from their owners, some of whom had travelled some distance to be with us.

There was also a fantastic American Red Cross display courtesy of Anne & Clive. There hard work in creating an exhibit on this service is always a welcome addition to any of our open days.

Our recently opened 384th Bomb Group Museum Heritage Trail is located through Grafton Park Wood, which is just a short stroll from the Museum site. We have a hand out map available in the Visitor Centre, it was nice to see plenty of people walking the route through the ancient woodland areas that once housed elements of the airfield communal areas.

Our next Open Day is on Saturday 17th October, from 10am until 3pm.
