B-17's In Flight - Fundraising Project

The Museum has just announced a very specific fund raising project, that is linked to our new Visitor Centre.

Borrowing the idea from our friends of the 96th Bomb Group Museum at Snetterton Heath (with their permission!), our plan is to have a squadron of 384th Bomb Group B-17's in flight again at the airfield - albeit in miniature.

Using 1:72 scale models, a section of the new Visitor Centre hut will be transformed into a piece of sky - models will be built wheels up and with discs in place of static propellors to give the impression of them being in flight, and suspended from the ceiling.

We are giving individuals the opportunity to sponsor one of these - they can be allocated to a specific squadron (544th, 545th, 546th or 547th) - however, due to the size of the models we cannot individually name them - they will, however, all proudly display their 'Triangle P' tails.

A legend will be on display in the Museum to recognise contributions to this project. As ever, all funds raised go back into the Museum project.

Each aircraft can be sponsored for $150 (roughly £115) - there are limited numbers available. Please contact the Museum for further information.
